Basic Navigation Skipper

With the title of Basic Navigation Skipper you will be able to steer boats up to 8 meters in length and navigate up to a maximum distance of five miles from the coast.

Recreational Boats Skipper

The title of Patrón de Embarcaciones de Recreo, or as it is usually called “El PER”, qualifies for coastal navigation in boats up to 15 meters.

The Patrón de Embarcaciones de Recreo notes consist of the complete theoretical syllabus with 11 topics that includes all the theory of the PNB and the additional topics to the PER, including a large number of solved navigation problems.

RICMALDO, SAILING SCHOOL

Sailing should be fun, enjoyable and, above all, safe.

In our corner of the ocean, the adventure begins from the moment you step on our boat. At our school, we don’t just teach you how to sail, we take you on a journey beyond the waves.

From dinghy sailing to the thrill of powerboating, we offer a full range of courses to suit all levels. Do you want to feel the adrenaline of the sea or do you prefer the serenity of sailing at sunset? You choose your journey.

Our instructor is not only an expert sailor, he is passionate about the sea and wants to share his knowledge with you. Each class is not just a lesson, it is an experience. You will learn not only the technical skills, but also the magic of sailing.

Metolodogy

In the online classes there is a personal follow-up for each student, live classes by video conference, access to the recorded classes and to the material of theoretical notes, problems and at least all the solved exams of the last two years in the Balearic Islands.

Classes by Zoom

All classes are conducted via live video conferencing using Zoom software.

Access to recordings

We provide recordings of past classes in case you are unable to attend at the scheduled time or if you need to review.

In each course we provide notes, group or individual tutoring and practice exams from last year's Balearic Islands.

Get to know me a little better

Ricardo Álvarez Maldonado

Career Navy officer, sailor by profession and professional sailor. In the field of teaching I have extensive experience, I have been a professor of navigation at the Escuela Naval Militar and the Juan Sebastian Elcano.

I currently teach sailing classes, both face-to-face and online, to obtain recreational qualifications: PER, Skipper and Yacht Captain.

In the competition field, I have been sailing in racing teams for more than 20 years, I have sailed in different categories IORs, IMSs, Corel 45, IRC, TP52, CS50 etc... and in different positions on board. I am currently Project & Team Manager and navigator aboard the TP52 AIFOS500.

I have extensive experience on board in offshore navigation, totaling more than 30,000 miles sailed in sailing ships, five Atlantic crossings and transoceanic navigations in the Pacific, Indian and Red Seas, crossing the Panama and Suez channels on several occasions. I have acted as security officer on board in the Gulf of Aden, Somalia and Strait of Malacca, securing navigation in waters at risk from active piracy, coordinating defeat with international military forces in the area and security companies.

I have been Team Manager of the ACCIONA team for the Vendee Globe that completed the first sailing circumnavigation of the planet without fossil fuel on board.
